We are a non-profit puppy and dog rescue, based just outside of Albany, NY. Our mission is to rescue canines that are at-risk for euthanasia, and find them loving homes.

Why do dogs get put up for adoption?
It’s a common misconception that all dogs come to adoption centers because they have behavioral problems. Those dogs are actually few and far between, and any responsible re-homing organization will always try to put effort into correcting behavioral difficulties before they allow the dog to be adopted out.
There are a number of possible reasons for a dog to be put up for adoption. Ours have included:
-owners who have separated and are no longer in a position to keep their dog,
-older dogs whose owners can no longer afford vets’ bills,
-families who have a child with asthma or allergies and cannot tolerate the dogs hair,
-puppies who become too boisterous and need more attention than their owners can give them.
Don’t assume it’s the dog’s fault. It’s more likely to be the humans who have had the problems.
What are the benefits of dog adoption?
Their is no greater love then what comes from a rescue dog. It is almost like some understand their lives were in jeopardy and that you were the one that saved them. They will appreciate your generosity and love you unconditionally. At One Love, we pride ourselves in knowing each dog’s personality and temperament and we will match your family’s needs to the appropriate dog. Once selected, your rescue dog, (when old enough), will be spayed or neutered so you won’t have to incur that cost.
What can I do to help?
We are currently looking for foster homes for any of the current dogs and pups for adoption. Food and vet bills are paid for fosters, by One Love. All you need to do is fill out an adoption application ~ and put “foster” in the heading. You will need to provide proper identification to us and provide them with a safe/comfortable environment, regular walks/feedings, and lots of love/affection.

From 1970 to 2010, the number of dogs and cats in homes has increased from 67 million to an estimated 164 million. The annual number of dogs and cats euthanized in shelters has also decreased from 12–20 million to an estimated 3.4 million. However, there’s still work to do: An estimated 2.7 million healthy shelter pets are not adopted each year, and only about 30 percent of pets in homes come from shelters and rescues.”

Love the new website!!! A few typos..teehee, but awesome! We adopted our boxer pup, Tanner, recently and we just love him! He is such a snuggle bug! Bonnie was great at communicating and working with me. She also made sure to check on how Tanner was doing after coming to our home. We love him and so do the ladies at the bank!(Lol) always giving him treats….

Starr is in a high-kill NC shelter and is on the PTS list due to overcrowding. If we can find her a foster, we’ll have her pulled, vetted and temp fostered in NC until transport to PA is arranged (1-2 weeks). Please give this gorgeous girl a chance.

This will be my own put adoption. I raised two Golden’s in my teens and twenties but they were technically dogs for my mother who l had cancer.
I cannot wait to adopt a puppy. I trained two Golden’s while I was in high school and right after my college graduation. My mother received treatment joy from having the dog to assuage the lonliness while we were at work/sccool. My boyfriend and I live in Comstock which is very safe because it’s protected by officers and we are very close trails where the dog can exercise and be active. I have personally never adopted a dog however I have raised two dogs to golden one I was very young 12 years old and I believe 17 or 18 years old. I would love to speak to somebody that has experience so I can raise the puppy to the best of my ability. Even though I have a lot of All-Stars this I am very active in order to slow down the progression of the disease so I’m always exercising and I would love to have a dog to come with me. Bonnie, if you google One Love Puppy there is a place to click on “call” and when you hit that MY PHONE number appears. 530.409.5451. I get about 2 phone calls a month that people think they are calling you and ask about puppies. PLEASE change that. I have asked before but it still is happening.
